I often ask the women I work with if they are ambitious.
These are women who are either in senior roles or aspiring to be,
are extremely capable and often brilliant,
and doing great work achieving extraordinary things - every day.
And the responses I get are surprising.
They squirm.
They are silent.
They are embarrassed.
As women we need to start taking ownership and pride in who we are and what we are capable of.
As women we have to begin to worry less about what others think and believe more in what we know.
Ambition is not a dirty word.
You would not have got to where you are today without it,
and you won’t reach the dizzying heights of success you are more than capable of if you don’t own it.
So the next time someone asks you
“Are you ambitious? “
What are you going to say without hesitation?
Start practising.
The more you say it the easier it will get.
“Are you ambitious?“
“Yes, I am”
