Embracing Midlife Career and Life Transition

There’s a powerful moment in every midlife transformation, and it's a moment I see time and time again in my coaching work.
It’s the moment a client finally says: “This is not for me.”
It sounds so simple.
But behind those five words lie months, sometimes years, of doubt, reflection, and spiralling around a decision. It’s the moment when all the questions — Why isn’t this working? Why don’t I feel like myself? Why can’t I just make it work? — finally crystalise into one hard, honest truth:
This is no longer who I am.
It’s not a decision made lightly.
It’s a decision forged in the fire of self-awareness, after giving it everything you’ve got, and trying every way you know to make it fit.
It’s the moment you realise:
This role no longer reflects who I’ve become.
It doesn’t align with my values.
It doesn’t honour the skills and passions I’m here to share.
I’m not shining or thriving here.
Naming that truth is an act of profound bravery.
It means letting go of a story you’ve lived, and honouring the grief that comes with it. But it’s also making space for what’s next — the excitement, the possibility, the fear, and the anticipation of who you’re becoming.
Because in that moment, you’re not just closing a door. You’re opening a thousand others.
This is the work:
To spiral around the decision, knowing every turn brings you closer to the heart of what you want.
To acknowledge the grief and the excitement.
To let go of who you were, so you can step into who you’re becoming.
If you’re in that space — the space of naming what no longer fits .....
I see you.
And I celebrate you.
Because every time you choose yourself, you move one step closer to the life that’s waiting for you.
If you’re in that space — the space of naming what no longer fits — my program, Creating the Career You Want™, is here to help you explore what’s next with clarity, compassion, and courage. Learn more here.
